Personnel from the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) of Mexico City, assigned to security and surveillance in the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro, at the Chabacano station on Line 8, was alerted by a user about a person who appeared to be transporting turtle eggs.

Upon approaching the individual in question, they adopted an evasive attitude, which is why, to rule out a probable criminal act and in accordance with police protocols, a preventive search was conducted. As a result, various bags containing turtle eggs, a species considered under federal protection, were found on the individual.

For the aforementioned reasons, and after reading their legal rights, the man and the packages were transferred to the agent of the Public Ministry of the Attorney General's Office (FGR), where expert personnel counted a total of 360 turtle eggs.

The man and the seized wildlife product were left at the disposal of the federal judicial authorities, who will follow up on the corresponding investigations and define his legal situation.

The SSC and PBI reaffirm their commitment to the protection of wildlife and compliance with environmental legislation, collaborating with the relevant authorities for the investigation of crimes that harm the environment and natural resources.
